Day 5: Thu 18 Feb - Tweed Heads

Ride: 18km

After coffee and a piece of toast, we jumped on the bikes and played tourist.  We ended up at Point Danger (have heard it mentioned in many a weather report, but never actually been there until now) and the Captain Cook Memorial.  There is a fantastic bike path for most of the way and it was great to just cruise along taking in the sights.

After breakfast we went shopping to top up the supplies.  We did have a coffee before shopping though as were were mssing our "snobby“ coffee.  We also bought a new fan as the 12V we bought in Hervey Bay was really noisy and keeping us awake.  It is not 12V so can only be used when staying in a powered site.

Lunch was followed by a snooze and then we tired to go for a paddle.  It was to be Wendy’s first time in the kayak.  However, it was really windy and the river was far too lumpy to even consider going in.  Well, Greg would have gone had he been able to launch the kayak from where we were.  It was quite a steep drop to the water, the edge was lined with oyster shells which would have damaged the hull of the kayak.  So, it was back to the van for a read and a bit of relaxing.
